I created a 2D level using assets from a 2D sci-fi game kit provided by Unity. A cutscene was added in the beginning to add a basic story introduction and certain holes in cave walls were stacked with distant layers of visuals to create something akin to parallax. Spikes, acid pools and enemies were mixed into certain areas and acted as the primary challenges. Creating a script for acid to move actively with moving platforms was the biggest challenge for me, but worked effectively in the end.

 

The ultimate product focused on typical platformer challenges such as platform speed changes, moving paths with spike obstacles as well as moving platforms with spikes on them. I considered this project to be a good exercise in terms of testing the limits of what the Unity 2D Game Kit can do.
